Rev. Amantha L Barbee is the pastor at Statesville Avenue Presbyterian Church (USA). She is gifted in worship arts. She was a Vocal Performance major at Appalachian State University and University of North Carolina-Charlotte. Her love of music led her to 20 years of service as a church musician prior to seminary studies at Union Presbyterian Seminary where she earned the E.T. George Award for excellence in Homiletics and Worship. She has a Masters of Divinity. She believes that music is a resource for healing and uses it to bring people together. Rev. Barbee loves the traditions of the church but has a passion for blended and multicultural worship. She served as a program director in an area women’s homeless center prior to her call to SAPC. She serves as the moderator for Mission, Justice and Outreach for the Presbytery of Charlotte and seeks to lead harmony and justice within the presbytery which she fully believes will spread through the city. Rev. Barbee serves on the board of the Montreat Conference Center. Nationally, she serves on the Committee for Ecumenical and Interreligious Relations. She is a supporter of the Women In Transition program at the YWCA, Lily Pad Foundation,  and NW School of the Arts – Charlotte, NC. Her passion for Charlotte has her serving as the incoming Co-Chair of the Charlotte Clergy Coalition for Justice. Rev. Barbee believes that she is a servant and you will find her door open, in the halls of the hospitals, at community functions and having conversations with the patrons of Loaves & Fishes. 

DJ Boyd, our Director of Music is a 2003 graduate of Winthrop University with a Bachelors of Arts in Music with a minor in Art. While in college he was involved in several organizations such as the Newspaper Club, Yearbook Staff writer and photographer. He also served as the appointed personal pianist to the President of the University where he provided instrumental music for major events for three years. During his sophomore year, he began his first opportunity to serve as a part-time musician and choir director at the Boyd Hill Baptist Church.  After college, D.J. served as the Assistant Director of Music and Arts at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Charlotte, NC for 7 years. He served as the Director of Worship at the St Luke Missionary Baptist Church- Charlotte, NC where some of his roles and duties were directing choral rehearsals, musician's director, and work closely with the media ministry, hospitality ministries, children and youth music, step teams, mime and dance ministries. He held this position for 5 years in which be proudly wrote and produced an annual Christmas musical which became a staple of this ministry and community.  

He is a member of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) and the National Association of Negro Musicians (NANM). He is an avid supporter of The Hampton Minister's Conference and Organist Guild, and The Gospel Music Workshop of America (GMWA) and a former member of the board of directors for the Charlotte Children's Choir.
